Rhythms & Cycles…
As above, so below

Rhythm..... I've been reflecting on this notion of rhythm lately, and how by the very nature of this human experience we are living, and all that we are, how interweaved it is in our very way of life. The thought came to me when practicing efforts to soften into the seasonal changes, I noticed that finding some rhythm in my adapted daily routines, really supported me to find a sweet sense of ease and surrender into nature's calling. It got me thinking, we see and feel it everywhere, just like the seasons, we cyclically and rhythmically expand and contract, rise and fall. Take the lunar cycle, the gradual expansion we perceive and feel as she receives the brightness of the sun's glory, in turn heightens energies within us. We see it everywhere when we look at the tidal rhythms, day falling into nights, the death and rebirth of nature throughout the seasons, plants, birds flocking and nesting, our need for rest and sleep at the close of each day.

The moment I paused and reflected on these cycles, to acknowledge and appreciate our intrinsic natures so deeply rooted in its interconnectedness, the more I yearned to drop into the stillness and surrender to the seasonal changes. The winter months urge me to lean more into my teachings and practices of Yin yoga and Restorative yoga and indulge in long walks in nature appreciating all the autumnal colours and winter blooms mother nature gifts us. The pull to leap out of bed in a morning and dive into a heat building Vinyasa like that of the summer vibes is less so. Naturally our inner compass is attuned to this seasonal shift in rhythm.

We also feel this moment to moment in our practice, the breath sweetly tour guiding each and every move, supporting our energy, our mind, for every rise we expand with the inhale, for every contraction we surrender with the exhale. The pulsation of life, with every breath. Encompassing the whole, in every moment, through the beating of our hearts.

Within this moment, we can deeply connect the micro with the macro, recognise our ephemerality, our minuteness, encapsulated within our boundlessness and unlimitedness, touching on the mystical.

As are the Universal laws of 'As above, so below, ' when we stop, pause, connect to breath, listen to the internal guidance within, the rhythm of our beating hearts...we can for a moment feel that pulsing life running through us, the connection to the universe, to all that is.
